About Us

Cutting Edge Designs is owned and operated by Julie Doering and was founded in 2004. The company specializes in sophisticated surface finishes for residential and commercial clients and is based in Clayton, NC.

Originally from the state of Wisconsin, Julie earned a BS degree in Industrial Engineering and had a successful career in the corporate world working for Raytheon and Caterpillar^®. Later, she spent ten amazing years as a full time parent prior to launching Cutting Edge Designs.

Julie has studied under nationally known faux and decorative painting artisan, Barbara Skivington, at Faux Works studio in High Point, NC. as well as other local studios. Cutting Edge Designs is proud to have been named the certified JaDecor installer in the Raleigh/Durham area. JaDecor is a truly unique and upscale new product in the triangle and we are honored to be able to offer it to our clients.

Training and interaction with other professional faux finishers are important aspects of the business and Julie attends several faux and decorative painting workshops, seminars and conventions each year. This ensures that the company will always be on the Cutting Edge of Design.
